Funding process

The Foundation does not generally accept unsolicited applications and relies on recommendations of respected music teachers who are uniquely qualified to act as informal ‘talent scouts’ bringing to the Foundation’s attention the details of singers and musicians with outstanding talent and career potential. In general terms the funding process operates as follows:

  1. Candidates will be recommended in the first instance by their teacher, or by some other suitably qualified person (‘the recommender’).
  2. If the recommender is not known to the Foundation and the case for support seems plausible, a Trustee or suitably qualified person known to the Foundation and located in the candidate’s vicinity will be asked to audition the candidate and provide a report to the Foundation.
  3. Candidates will be required to provide certain documents and information which are listed on the ‘Grant Guidelines’ page of the website.
  4. The project for which funding is sought has to be related to attendance at an international course or an extended period of study at a respected international music college.
  5. Once the candidate’s artistic and vocal technical credentials have been established to the Foundation’s satisfaction, correspondence will be entered into with the candidate regarding their plans and needs (refer ‘Grant Guidelines’ page).
  6. At this time, if the Foundation believes it can provide useful support to the candidate, further discussion will be arranged prior to a recommendation being put to the Trustees for assessment.
